We get it — everyone wants a quote for gel coat restoration.

But here’s the truth most won’t say:

Gel coat restoration isn’t a $300-$600 wash & wax. It’s hours of wet sanding, compounding, polishing, oxidation removal, and skill that only comes from experience. When your boat is chalky, faded, and looks 10 years older than it should… that’s not a “quick buff.” That’s correction work.

If you’re price shopping five detailers looking for the cheapest number, we’re not your company.

If you care about:

✔️ No swirls

✔️ No pigtails

✔️ No holograms in the sun

✔️ Long-term results

✔️ Professional equipment & marine-grade products

✔️ A boat that looks better than when you bought it

Then we are your people.

Serious inquiries only. We’re here for boat owners who want it done right the first time — not redone next season because someone buffed wax/compound into oxidized gel coat trying to save a few bucks.

Quality restoration isn’t expensive.

Redoing cheap work is.

I’m not gonna keep explaining our work for you to “try” to trust us, we have plenty of boats on schedule every year. Go watch our videos & see through our pictures, or do it your self? If not- there’s PLENTY of “detailers” out there that would LOVE to scam you. 🛥️

So….Does your gel coat shine like glass when the sun hits it… or does it look like swirl paradise? 👀

1️⃣ They Sell a Spray Sealant/Wax as a “Ceramic Coating”

Real ceramic coatings (like professional-grade SiO₂ coatings) require:

• Full paint / gel coat correction

• Decontamination

• Panel wipe prep

• Controlled curing time

• Proper leveling

Cheap detailers skip 80% of that.

They use:

• A $20–$60 spray sealant

• A 1–3 hour “coating job”

• No correction

• No proper prep

Then they advertise it as:

“5 year ceramic coating”

Reality? It lasts a few months (their “ceramic”)

On boats, it’s even worse. Gel coat is porous. If oxidation isn’t fully removed before coating, you’re just sealing in chalky, dead material. That coating will fail FAST.

2️⃣ They Don’t Remove Oxidation — They Hide It

On boats especially, this is the BIGGEST scam & unfortunately I’ve heard Alot of stories!

Proper gel coat restoration requires:

• Heavy compounding

• Wet sanding / Dry sanding

• Multiple steps of polishing

• UV protection applied after correction

• Expensive products

Cheap guys:

• Hit it with a light polish or wax

• Add oils/fillers

• Make it look shiny for 48 hours (in the shade)

• Collect payment

• Disappear

Once the fillers wash out, the oxidation comes right back.

3️⃣ They Don’t Understand Marine vs Automotive Surfaces

Car clear coat ≠ Boat gel coat.

Gel coat is:

• Thicker

• More porous

• Oxidizes differently

• Requires aggressive correction when damaged

Marine restorations is a different animal.

You get what you pay for. Trust me.
