FAQ

Customers have many questions regarding their vessel, vehicles, or just maintenance tips.

And we've got you covered.

How do i book a gel coat restore?

Simply get in-touch with us! Send over the year, make & model, and a couple up close pictures through text or email. Our phone number is listed on our website.

We can go off of pictures most of the time with our extensive knowledge of gel-coat. If anything changed or looks different once we get the boat in our hands, we will let you know before proceeding!

A small deposit is required when booking a big service like this since we have to block at-least a week off of our schedule. What if you cancel & already paid the deposit? The deposit will be credited to a reschedule, and a refund can only be given if the cancellation is made 2 weeks before the service.

How long does a gel-coat restore last?

Forever. It's all up to you in the end.We back our work 100% Why? Because we do the job right the first time by wet-sanding the main problem off which is OXIDATION. We never buff, wax, or compound over any oxidation. There are plenty of detailers out there that will do the quick hit & miss then get paid within the end of the day while it still looks shiny but we don't. If the core problem does not correctly get fixed, the oxidation/dullness WILL come back within weeks, i promise!

We recommend keeping your boat sealed (marine sealant) We use our products through Starke Yacht Care and we are partnered with them. For sealant we use Hyper Hold Pro. It lasts for 6mo. So you will need to keep your boat sealed at-least twice a year, and more if it is in salt water!

A polish is recommended at-least every 6mo. to keep the gel-coat hydrated, and to also get rid of any swirling or water spots from being used during spring/summer. A polish is crucial for restored boats, and even for brand new boats to make sure it stays in pristine condition! Think of it like this, if you buy a brand new car and never keep the clearcoat washed, waxed, polished or sealed, the clear will eventually fade, then start drying out & peeling over time. Maintenance is EVERYTHING!

Do you come to me?

Yes, for mobile car detailing and for regular boat cleanings! We prefer for gel-coat restore jobs to be at our location to save YOU a lot of money. We use a good bit of machines for restores so it is a lot easier for restore jobs to be at our location, plus it takes about a week to do and can be a little longer for bigger boats. We provide water and power inside of our van, for car detailing and boat detailing (on trailer). If your boat is on the water, let us know if there is water/power, if there is no water provided we will have to bring a pump and use lake water.

How do i know if my boat needs a restore or polish only?

If you see cloudiness, dullness, or no reflection, it will need a restore.

If the boat has been maintained and just has water spots, swirling, but not a super CLEAR reflection, it will need a polish. A polish requires us using our rotary with a double sided yellow wool pad, which provides heat & finishes off to a almost perfect finish. Then lastly, we change to a double sided foam pad on the rotary (or DA) to get the absolute perfect finish, getting rid of all holograms, and top it off with sealant unless you want to pay more for ceramic coating.

How do i know if my car needs a polish?

Simply look directly at your paint in the blazing sun, or shine a light on it. If you see any

scratches, swirling, or that "spider web" look, it needs a polish. Wax or sealant will do nothing for it at that point because then you're basically just protecting swirled paint and it will be harder for wax or sealant to have a bond to it because it's in bad condition and the clear coat needs to be refreshed at that point. If you like to go through car washes with the noodles slinging on your car, never waste your money on a polish because those swirls will appear again from automatic car washes. A touchless wash or hand wash is best.

Will a restore help sell my boat faster & for more money?

Yes and YES! We have helped so many clients sell their boat just because it looked better?

Nobody wants to buy a chalked boat unless the pricing is just right for their budget.

A boat that looks like it has been taken cared of, and loved will always sell faster than a dull looking one. Same thing with cars!

Do i need to be home for you to complete the service?

No. You don't have to be home. Just make sure the car doors are unlocked, or leave a key.

For boats, just make sure it is accessible. Payment is due within 30min of completion for on-site services.

I want to book a restore but don't have all of the money right now. Can i still secure a spot?

Booking a restore, you can simply secure your spot by paying a deposit! A deposit ranges from $200-$400. Spring & Summer gets SLAMMED with restoration boat jobs, and car detailing. Deposits can be paid by Zelle at no fee, or venmo. If paid by venmo, there is a $20 fee.
